FOR 37 YEARS, SEATTLE'S STOP FOR STAYING ON THE MOVE."We believe that without the foundation of trust we have developed with our customers, we would not be here today. We have always taken pride in the work we have done in the past and continue to do so today. Thank you, to all of our customers who continue to support The Import Doctors." - Marco GutierrezMike Colebank, a longtime factory Volkswagen Master Technician, established The "Bug" Doctors in 1976. In the late 70's we strictly repaired and serviced air-cooled Volkswagens, from engine rebuilds to carburetor tuning and everything that VW's needed. As times progressed into the 80's, Seattle saw more and more water-cooled Volkswagens on the road and in The "Bug" Doctors shop. Although Mike had been dedicated to VW for many years, The "Bug" Doctors saw more customers wanting their newer Hondas, Datsuns, and Toyotas serviced as well. The increase of Japanese vehicles being serviced led to the name change from The "Bug" Doctors to the more diverse name of The Import Doctors. In the 90's, The Import Doctors slowly started seeing less air-cooled VW's, as newer VW/Audis, Hondas, Toyotas, and Subarus were slowly driving these older models off the roads. In response to this, through the 90's we covered all Japanese import vehicles alongside VW/Audi. The scope of our services slowly grew as we mastered the various technical intricacies of these addition Japanese imports. In today's market of Hybrids, Drive by Wire, and Variable Cylinder Management, new technology and training had to be implemented in order for us to keep servicing our long time customers' newer vehicles. We remain dedicated to keeping up with the technology and advancement of the automotive manufacturers we service. Today we combine the old with the new and service VW air-cooled, water cooled, and diesel engines, as well as Audi, Honda, Toyota, Nissan, Lexus, Infinity, Subaru, BMW, Scion, and Acura. Just as the cars coming into the shop changed over the years, The Import Doctors went through changes as well. In 2007 Marco Gutierrez succeeded Mike Colebank as the owner and operator of The Import Doctors. Marco brought with him like-minded values and ethics and a similar approach to maintaining the integrity of The Import Doctors. Marco also brought a vision of emphasizing the importance of providing the best service, and utilizing the best parts available for The Import Doctors' customers to ensure the quality of the repairs completed. Marco also strives for the same straight-forward approach and full disclosure communication that Mike had instilled in The Import Doctors. Mike was the owner and operator for thirty years, he was a fair and ethical man who built The Import Doctors by being honest, straight-forward, and loyal to his customers. Mike always did the right thing, and was trusted by all his customers. He loved what he did and it showed by the way he conducted his business. He was an avid car nut as well as a generous employer. Outside of the automotive world he also loved boating and fishing. He became ill and passed away in 2004. He is greatly missed by all, but we are proud to continue his legacy of dedication to service and a standard of excellence seen in all our work.
